Five Rings TKD Teaches the Chang-Huhn Hyeong (Blue Cottage pattern set) originally developed by General Choi Hong Hi. This is the pattern set used by the International TaeKwon-Do Federation (ITF) founded on Apr. 11, 1966 by Gen Choi Hong Hi.

Because we train according to the original art as it was created by General Choi Hong Hi, Real Taekwon Do observes the Chang Hon school of patterns (Chang Hon means 'Blue Cottage' and is General Choi's pseudonym). This school was inspired by two much older schools that originated in Japan and Okinawa many hundreds of years ago.

The Chang Hon or "blue cottage" patterns are known for the combination of fast and slow, light and forceful movements together with extensive footwork. Chang Hon is the pen name of General Choi Hong Hi, founder of Taekwon-Do.
