The Bogantungan Historical Railway Station has numerous interpretive panels and memorabilia about the crash. Bogantungan was once a thriving railway town. In the early 1880s, it had 28 hotels, several churches, numerous businesses and sporting clubs, and a racecourse.

2020年2月26日 · Trains don’t stop here anymore. The Bogantungan Railway Station closed on 20 July 1989. The Bogantungan railway complex remains, but now it’s a museum. The town’s history, including photographs and memorabilia connected with the 1960 Medway Creek rail accident, is on display in the former railway station building.

2022年6月26日 · Bogantungan was declared a town in 1881 and was initially a terminus for the railway while it built a line across the nearby Drummond Range. The line between Emerald and Bogantungan was opened in 1880.

Today, the Bogantungan Railway Station has become a small historical museum with a memorial, and interpretive panels recalling one of Queensland’s worst ever rail disasters, along with memorabilia from that fateful day.

Settled in 1880 and declared a town in 1881, Bogantungan, like may other small settlements, was established at the rail head to provide for the railway workers and their families as the construction of the Central Western rail line moved west.
