The Engesa EE-T1 Osório was a Brazilian main battle tank prototype developed by Engesa. The tank was intended to be sold first to Arab and other Third World countries, jump-starting production — and enabling the Brazilian Army to later place its own orders without having to fund development costs.

The same gun is shared by the French Leclerc MBT. The gun was fully stabilized, with a -10 to 20 degree elevation, 11-15 º/s max. slew rate. 40 rounds were carried (ready rounds, and other stored in the turret basket) of the APDSFS-T and HEAT-MP type.

By IISS estimates, the Brazilian Army fielded over 2,250 armored fighting vehicles in 2023, the highest number in Latin America, although modern models were a minority of this total. This number includes 292 main battle tanks and 1,466 armored personnel carriers. [2] .

The Brazilian army does not actually looking for a MBT for two reasons: The first is the attribution of the Brazilian forces were essentially defensive, aimed at protecting the national territory. Brazil has practicing non-intervention and neutrality.

Brazil wants to completely modernize its armored forces; they are upgrading the Leopard 1 tanks, buying new B2 Centauro tank destroyers/fire support vehicles and plan to purchase a new MBT. However the published requirements for the new Brazilian MBT are rather ridiculous.
