The following article is an attempt to gather together the available information on the British, Canadian, and British supplied tank formations that served in Normandy. Included are the tactical markings, unit signs and arm of service flashes (the numbered coloured squares).

A five-pointed star, painted white, was used to identify Allied vehicles from 1944. British tanks rarely had stars on the front or sides, normally just one on the rear of the turret. AFV's often carried stars on the sides and rear. Softskins normally carried stars on their sides.

Yep, I'm trying to put together a visual timeline of the changes, with regiments swapping between brigades and the changes in seniority and markings that came with it.

2020年4月23日 · (e) Recce Troops were very large – 11x Stuart Light Tanks and almost the size of a Squadron in their own right and often referred to as the ‘Recce Squadron’ in many accounts. The Recce Troops of 31st & 34th Tank Brigades were equipped with Stuart Mk III Light Tanks (M3A1), while 6th Guards Tank Brigade had Stuart Mk V (M3A3) and Mk VI (M5).
