The following graph shows your confidence that you could resist drinking heavily or resist urges to use drugs in different situations. Situations in which you have low confidence are more likely to pose a risk for you. You may find it particularly helpful to think of ways to identify and plan for these situations in advance.

Table 4.2 lists the eight BSCQ categories of high-risk situations as well as the shorthand BSCQ profile names and descriptions. Figure 4.2 presents sample graphs of each of the six BSCQ profiles.

Using a visual analog scale, the BSCQ asked respondents to report their confidence to resist urges to drink heavily using the original eight SCQ subscales (e.g., pleasant times with others, social pressure). Data were collected from 120 adult problem drinkers who voluntarily entered an outpatient alcohol treatment program.
