At that point Takumi's skills/familiarity with Akina rivaled Bunta's (while smoking, no hands drifting half asleep). The difference was the car which is partially the reason Bunta made him start switching between the 86 and the Impreza. Tech and power will only get you so far. Skill and mastery of your car will only get you so far.

2016年8月6日 · During the battle between Takumi and Godhand Bunta never makes any calls on the race, but he remarks on how Takumi still has a lot to learn. In Stage 3 when Bunta is driving the 86 for the deliveries and passes by Takumi's challenger, Bunta remarks "there was some skill behind that wheel" demonstrating his sort of 6th sense in racing.

2018年11月9日 · I'd say Bunta, he's an overall better driver although Takumi still would be a challenge (at the end of the anime that is) then again most things Takumi learned came from Bunta be it directly or indirectly (or obscure as fuck knowing Bunta) He also learned a lot from Ryosuke but I doubt Bunta doesn't know any of the things Ryosuke taught Takumi

Although considering how fast Bunta is on Akina, it's surprising that not even the Speed Stars know about him.

2023年11月15日 · Takumi in Bunta’s 20 year old Scooby would smoke Kanata with the stock 86 he has at the beginning of the anime, but they’re hinting at there being a ton of mods available for the second MFG race so it might be a lot closer if that actually happens.

2023年10月6日 · Bunta is a legendary racer as well, and I'm guessing he's about their age. So, their paths must have crossed at some point. Also, from the way Godarm was asking Takumi about his father before they battled, it kind of hinted that he knows.
