All the 251s had the 1960s CK12s and share the smooth top end but shoot one out against a 1960s C12 and there is only a slight difference (due to the different circuits and head basket)

Baifeili AKG c414 clone. Sounds incredible for the money. I've been using them mostly as overheads and they've been absolutely delivering. I used them to record this album. (It's purposely lofi/early 70s sounding, but you get the idea.) Here's a quick vocal test between these and an actual AKG c414:

2024年11月4日 · There are pretty good cheap clones of the Neumann K87 for about 30 to 40 bucks retail, from Beijing 797 Audio and Takstar. (And edge-terminated versions too.) There are no true clones of the CK12 that cost less than about 400 bucks retail, if you can even get them.
