2014年12月16日 · CBB/CLR Virtual Workshop for Kaua`i – Oct. 13, 2021 UH-CTAHR is hosting a virtual workshop for Kaua`i coffee farmers on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The workshop will include information on CBB and CLR from UH-CTAHR, the Hawai`i Department of Agriculture, and the Kaua`i Invasive Species Committee.

CBB is one of the most devastating pests of the coffee plant and is a serious economic threat to coffee growers. The adult female beetle bores into the coffee cherry and lays her eggs. The larvae hatch inside the cherry, grow and feed on the beans, causing damage to the quality and yield of the coffee harvest.

2017年2月2日 · Coffee plants from islands infested with the coffee berry borer (CBB) are restricted from being transported to uninfested islands, such as Kauai. Hawaii Island, Oahu and Maui have established populations of CBB. Eight coffee plants were found at the Kauai store by HDOA Plant Pest Control specialists conducting pest surveillance on Monday.

Kauai coffee, with 3,000 acres of contiguous planting and a thriving agro-tourism center, is especially vulnerable.We propose a four-part plan to help prevent, detect, delimit, and respond to any CBB invasion of Kauai (and other non-infested islands).
