The 3032 and 4032 were produced in two special variants known as the B models with the so-called "business keyboard", which had a conventional layout with mathematical symbols and numbers above the alphabet keys. The keypad contained only numerals. On the other hand, all 8000-series PETs sported the business layout.

4032 refers to 40 character display, with 32K RAM memory. The PET 4032 was released three years after the original PET 2001. Although it has the same CPU running at the same speed, improved circuitry allows the 4032 to run substantially faster. Other improvements include more memory and a better keyboard.

The PET 4032 (40 column display, 32k RAM) is an upgraded personal/home edition PET. It retains the "graphic" keyboard layout of the original PET, however it has the larger display of the 8032 although it only shows 40 columns.
