Introduction The CBM 8296 is an expanded version of the CBM 8032, and is fully software compatible with the CBM 8096. Where the hardware is con- cerned, there are some amendments and additional options, since the CBM 8296 has a total of 128 k RAM.

Among the refashioned CBM line of computers, the 8296 stands above many as the ultimate business micro. Based on the 8032 architecture, this computer features 128K of external expansion memory, and the "Execudesk": a ROM capable of launching an included suite of disk-based business applications.

2011年4月12日 · Commodore tried to update the PET line with a new redesign called the CBM-II series (also known as the B series). These were not as successful and were ultimately abandoned. However, due to demand, the original PET machines were revived and the CBM-II case style was retained.

The 8296 D is a computer system with a monitor, keyboard, internal power-supply, disk drives and a motherboard. On the motherboard you will find a MOS 6502 processor, RAM / ROM memory, MOS 6545 video-chip, MOS 6520 PIA and a MOS 6522 VIA. The 8296 D is an example of the second generation of cbm/pet computers from Commodore.

Later the SK models got a new mainboard that already included the 64 kB extension directly on the board and were sold as 8296 or, with a built-in 8250 dual disk drive, as 8296-D.
