The Board of Executive Directors (BED) is the body responsible for the direction of the general operations and policies of the Bank. The BED is currently composed of nineteen members - ten Executive Directors appointed by their countries, which are the main shareholders, while nine others are elected by the Governors of other countries.

Dr. Al Jasser was elected by the IsDB Board of Governors in early July 2021 to lead the AAA-rated institution for five years. He assumed office as Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group on August 9, 2021.
