The Executive Board conducts KfW's business and administers its assets according to the Law Concerning KfW and the KfW By-Laws. It is responsible for duly performing its duties and sees to the implementation of resolutions taken by the Board of Supervisory directors.

With effect from tomorrow, 1 October 2021, Stefan Wintels takes up his post as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KfW. Until 1 November 2021, he will lead the KfW Executive Board together with Dr Günther Bräunig (65) as Co-CEO.

It is led by a five-member executive board headed by CEO Stefan Wintels [de], [5] which in turn reports to a 37 member Board of Supervisory Directors. The chair and deputy chair of the Board of Supervisory Directors are the German Federal Ministers of Finance and of Economic Affairs, with the positions alternating annually between them.

Stefan B. Wintels (* 17. November 1966 in Nordhorn, Niedersachsen) ist ein deutscher Bankmanager und Betriebswirt. Er ist Vorstandsvorsitzender der KfW-Bankengruppe (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) und Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der KfW Capital. Außerdem ist er Mitglied im Aufsichtsrat der Deutsche Post/DHL Group und der Deutsche Telekom.

Stefan Wintels is the current CEO of KfW. Stefan was previously with Deutsche Telekom, KfW Capital, and KfW. Stefan also spent time at Citi as the Global (Co-)Head of Financial Institutions Group in the Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory division from January 2001 to December 2021.
