ATSF CF7 rebuilt from F3A, F7A, and F9A power: master power roster with specifications and references

National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) 575-599 were 1970-78 CF7 locomotives. They were remanufactured in-house by Santa Fe from EMD F7A locomotives originally built between 1939 and 1959. Amtrak acquired them in August-September 1984 from Santa Fe alongside SSB1200 units 550-567, in exchange for 17 SDP40F locomotives.

I never was in the cab of a CF-7 unit. Did these units have a restroom and a potty? Sure, they had potties. But I wouldn't call them 'restrooms'... ;^)

2462, Class 2417, was built in May 1953, #17952, FN 6501-A5, as AT&SF 340L, Class 325, an F7A. It was rebuilt at Cleburne as 2462, Class 2417, on April 16, 1977. It was later sold to Amtrak as 590 in September 1984 and sold to Larry's Truck Equipment in July 2005.

After a quick heads up, I just made it in time to catch the recent LTEX funeral train CSX X797. Units are CF7 2619, GP35s 2536, 2542, 2553, 2566. GP30s 2447, 2422, 2462, 2448, 2471, 2418.
