ICD-11 enables, for the first time, the counting of traditional medicine services and encounters; the measurement of their form, frequency, effectiveness, safety, quality, outcomes, and cost; comparison with mainstream medicine; and research, due to standardized terms and definitions nationally and internationally.

The ICD-11 is the eleventh revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). It replaces the ICD-10 as the global standard for recording health information and causes of death. The ICD is developed and annually updated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

É a base para identificar tendências e estatísticas de saúde, contendo cerca de 17 mil códigos únicos para lesões, doenças e causas de morte, sustentados por mais de 120 mil termos codificáveis.

2025年1月13日 · A 11ª Revisão da Classificação Internacional de Doenças (CID-11) foi publicada em 2022. Em 2024, o Ministério da Saúde e a Organização Pan-Americana de Saúde (Opas) concluíram a tradução do documento para a língua portuguesa. Com isso, sua implementação está prevista para 1º de janeiro de 2027.
