Gently pull straight up at the four corners of the engine cover. Remove coolant reservoir cap and remove coolant level sensor connector. Remove ribbed belt (16mm on the tensioner). Rotate tensioner clockwise to release tension on belt. Disconnect lower radiator hose (passenger side, above charge air tubing) and drain coolant.

The factory service manual says that the timing belt should be replaced every 120,000 miles. The CJAA engine is shown but the CBEA engine belt replacement procedure is identical. The CBEA engine is found in 2009 VW Jetta and Sportwagen TDI and 2010-2013 Audi A3 TDI. All others use the CJAA engine.

Those "basics" evolve as the engines evolve, so that by the time the CJAA came along, which is WAY more complicated than that old Rabbit was, I was able to apply that stacked knowledge on so it isn't all that strange.

2022年8月14日 · Tip for getting the belt on easier: leave the upper and lower rollers off, once you get the belt on there there is enough slack on the belt to get the rollers on. Doing it this way makes putting the belt on a breeze :) Congrats on your first belt job!
