CSF tests in the differential diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease
2006年8月21日 · Methods: CSF was tested for 14-3-3, Tau, NSE, and S100b in 1,859 patients with sporadic, genetic, iatrogenic, and variant CJD, and in 1,117 controls. Results: The highest sensitivity was achieved for 14-3-3 and Tau in sporadic CJD (85% and 86%), and a combined determination of 14-3-3 and Tau, S100b, or NSE increased the sensitivity to over 93%.

Patients with suspected Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) often have routine cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis performed to exclude treatable inflammatory conditions; however, little information is available about the range of results obtained for …
Cerebrospinal fluid markers in Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease - PMC
The prion protein disorder Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a human transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) that leads to rapid decay of brain tissue. Human prion diseases are either idiopathic such as sporadic or spontaneous CJD (sCJD), genetic or familial (fCJD), acquired such as iatrogenic CJD (iCJD) or variant CJD (vCJD).

May aid in the diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). This test uses qualitative real-time quaking-induced conversion to identify the causative agent of CJD, and also includes indirect markers of neurodegenerative disease.

CSF RT-QuIC has a superior sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of sporadic CJD when compared to other CSF biomarkers including CSF 14-3-3. In our hands the sensitivity and specificity of CSF RT-QuIC is 94% and 100% respectively, compared to a sensitivity of 52% and a specificity of 96% for CSF 14-3-3.[1]
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD): Symptoms & Treatment - Cleveland Clinic
2022年4月21日 · Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a severe, degenerative brain condition. It happens when faulty proteins, known as prions, damage your brain. This condition usually worsens very quickly, and most people don’t survive more than a year after diagnosis. Most cases of CJD happen for unknown reasons, but 10% to 15% of cases are inherited.

Types include sporadic, familial, and acquired CJD, sporadic is the most common comprising 85% of cases. Diagnosis involves MRI, EEG, and CSF markers like 14-3-3, but early detectionis difficult due to symptom overlap.
