The GE C40-8M is a 6-axle diesel locomotive built by GE Transportation Systems from 1990 to 1994. It is part of the GE Dash 8 Series of freight locomotives, and is often referred to as a Dash 8-40CM. Mechanically identical to the Dash 8-40CW, the Dash 8-40CM was constructed only for Canadian railways, with a production total of 84 units.

CN C40-8M 2441 leads a westbound manifest through Crest Hill. Another look at the 2154 as it rolls slowly into the yard. CN 2441 spews exhaust into the blue sky as train A447 throttles up at Shops Yard. I had caught this same unit on BN rails in Cassville, Wisconsin a good 15 years ago, never thinking I would see it again.
