The steam locomotive that the CPR used to pull the train was numbered 2850, a 4-6-4 built by Montreal Locomotive Works. Specially painted in silver and blue, the locomotive ran 3,224 mi (5,189 km) across Canada, through 25 changes of crew, without engine failure.

Overseas bulk mail delivered by CPR steamships in Quebec, Montreal and/or Saint John NB was transferred across country to Vancouver, BC in No 5 for forwarding to Pacific destinations. One steamship line made a direct connection Vancouver to Australia which ended around 1952/53…..airplanes were starting to make their in roads.

These locos -- designed by Chief of Motive Power & Rolling Stock Henry Blane Bowen -- were considered to be the cream of CPR passenger engines. The boiler sat on a General Steel Castings one-piece locomotive bed.

CP 2858 Cab Restoration. As a memorial tribute to Duncan du Fresne, 1930-2012, the Society approached the Canada Science and Technology Museum with a proposal to restore the cab of CP 2858 to an as-built representation. The museum agreed, and the Society's Dirty Hands Club volunteers, led by John Bryant, tackled the project.

The CPR Royal Train ran from Quebec City to Vancouver by way of Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and Kamloops. 2850 was precluded from use from Quebec City to Montreal due to lighter track. Manned by 25 different engine crews on its cross-Canada trip, 2850 performed flawlessly.

2014年7月23日 · You just need an attachment point that lines up with those wheels attachment point from Worksim's 2858 or tigerko's 2860 reskin. Line up the main wheels with your 2816 boiler and cylinders so the pistons properly come out of the cylinders, and then you can use a prexisting bogey for your drivers.
