Renewable Energy Certificates - CRS
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are at the heart of sales of renewable electricity. For more detail on what they are and how they work, please see the resources below. For our official definition of a renewable energy certificate, see the listing in the Green-e Glossary.
Energy Attribute Tracking Systems | US EPA - U.S. Environmental ...
2025年1月14日 · These tracking systems are typically electronic databases that register basic information about each megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable generation in a specific U.S. geographical region (see map). They issue renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the generator, signifying that a MWh of renewable electricity has been delivered to the grid.
2024年2月20日 · NAR and M-RETS allow registration from generators located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. Other tracking systems may allow registrations from outside their geographic territory.
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) - CRS
Renewable Energy Certificates (typically referred to as “RECs,” and also known as “green tags” and “tradable renewable certificates”) are at the heart of sales of renewable electricity. A REC represents the environmental attributes, but not the electrons, of 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable energy generation on the electricity grid.
The Tracking Attestation Form - Green-e
The CRS Listed Tracking Attestation is a form that must be completed and accepted by CRS for generating facilities to have their renewable energy claimed within the supply chain of a Green-e® Energy Certified product, or, or that wish to be identified as CRS Listed.
By tracking unique RECs, state or provincial regulators can easily document renewable generation and sales and determine whether a load serving entity has met its renewable energy mandate. RECs can also be tracked to other entities such as green power marketers and sold in the national voluntary market to retail or commercial customers.

What are renewable energy certificates (RECs)? - 3Degrees
2023年12月4日 · A REC is a market-based instrument that represents the non-power benefits of one megawatt-hour (MWh) of energy generated from a renewable energy source and delivered to the grid. These non-power benefits, such as the zero-emissions profile of renewable electricity, can only be claimed by the REC holder.
