Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) contains no fat – so it appears black on T1-weighted images
MRI sequences (overview) | Radiology Reference Article - Radiopaedia.org
2022年9月4日 · T1 weighted (T1W) sequences are part of almost all MRI protocols and are best thought of as the most 'anatomical' of images (historically the T1W sequence was known as the anatomical sequence), resulting in images that most closely approximate the appearances of tissues macroscopically, although even this is a gross simplification.
T1 vs T2 MRI | T1and T2 MRI image comparison - mrimaster
In T2WI, fluids appear bright (or hyperintense). Therefore, areas filled with CSF, such as the brain’s ventricles or the spinal canal, are prominent. Other fluid-filled areas, such as joints with synovial fluid, the bladder in the pelvis, the gallbladder, common bile duct, and ureters in the abdomen, will also appear bright in T2-weighted images.

2024年7月9日 · T1 weighted image (also referred to as T1WI or the "spin-lattice" relaxation time) is one of the basic pulse sequences in MRI and demonstrates differences in the T1 relaxation times of tissues. A T1WI relies upon the longitudinal relaxation of a …
MRI: Tea, Too? – Raven Neurology Review
2019年5月21日 · Axial T2W brain MRI, same patient and level as the T1W image above. T2 FLAIR shows the pathological edema best highlighted in T2 sequences, but removes the bright CSF signal, making pathology ‘pop out’. This is a go-to, work horse sequence on MRI. Be aware that hyperacute strokes may no cause a FLAIR change. Axial T2W FLAIR MRI.
Feasibility of 3D T1W sequences in contrast-material enhanced …
2022年9月12日 · We investigated the diagnostic values and artifact severities of 3D-T1W sequences in the diagnosis of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage. We retrospectively reviewed 3-tesla contrast-material enhanced MR cisternography exams of 22 patients with suspected CSF leakage in 4 years.

2018年1月1日 · White matter contributes to brighter pixels, CSF contributes to darker pixels, and gray matter contributes to pixels with intermediate shades of gray; this type of contrast mechanism is termed T1-weighted contrast (Pooley 2005). A summary of the appearance of various tissues on T1-weighted images is provided below (Bitar et al. 2006) Table 1.
MR parameter weighting - Questions and Answers in MRI
Medical students and non-radiologists are often taught to look at the the "color" of CSF or other fluids to determine the type of "weighting" — dark CSF means "T1-weighting" and bright CSF means "T2-weighting". Although this simple scheme may have worked 20 years ago, consider the brain image from the commonly used T2-FLAIR sequence pictured ...
Neurology India
CISS is useful for evaluating structures close to or surrounded by CSF and for lesions which are relatively isointense to CSF on T1W and T2W images. It is good for evaluation of cranial nerves and is routinely used for the assessment of cerebellopontine angle lesions, inner ear structures and the internal auditory canal [ Figure 5 ].
