A rotomiller can be equipped with small teeth to render a CSP of 6, or large teeth that produce CSP 9. It stops short of CSP 10, because instead of dislodging aggregate, the rotomiller breaks it. A rotomiller can only be used on horizontal surfaces.

Use this guide to identify the surface profile of your concrete. CSP 1 being the indicator for a nearly smooth floor and CSP 10 indicative of an extremely rough floor. The range of variation will depend on strength, composition, aggregate and finish. CSP 1-4 not recommended with cement based products. Ideal Applications

For topping applications from ¼” to ½”, the surface profile shall be a CSP 6 or 7. This is known as a heavy shotblast. For concrete overlays greater than ½”, the surface profile shall be a CSP 8 or 9. This is known as an extreme shotblast.

This guideline provides concrete surface profiles of CSP 3 to 9 which are used under the following conditions. For coating applications from 4–5 mils in thickness, the surface profile shall be a CSP 3. This is known as a light shotblast. For coating applications from 15–50 mils in thickness, the surface profile shall be a CSP 4 or 5.
