A youth (under 18 years of age) must have their own CDFW customer record (GO ID) created to enroll in California’s Hunter Education course or to purchase hunting and fishing items. To create a new youth customer record and obtain a GO ID or to retrieve an existing youth customer record: Enter the youth’s first name.

Every customer purchasing a California fishing or hunting license, permits, or annual passes must create a customer record and obtain a Get Outdoors Identification (GO ID) number. Your GO ID will print on all your licenses and is used to help you track purchases, preference points, and harvest reporting requirements.

The Department designed the California Fishing Passport program to encourage people to more fully experience all of the fishing opportunities the Golden State has to offer. This program challenges people to fish their way around the state in search of a variety of freshwater and saltwater finfish and shellfish species.
