National Cadet Special Activities (NCSAs) are premier and exciting training opportunities for cadets to experience unique opportunities to further their leadership skills, develop knowledge in various aviation and career related fields, and grow personally.

Cadet Officer School (COS) is a rigorous, academically challenging leadership course patterned after the USAF’s Squadron Officer School. This program provides an in-depth academic and practical study of leadership and critical thinking.

National Cadet Special Activities (NCSA) are Cadet Programs conducted by the Civil Air Patrol. NCSAs are designed to give cadets direct hands on experience with various aspects of the Civil Air Patrol program and provide meaningful insight into several aviation-related careers.

Cadets are young leaders who think seriously about their futures. They may not yet know exactly what they want to do in adult life, but they're test-flying potential career interests. Cadet activities are akin to electives at school, and CAP schedules them mostly as "Saturday" and "school vacation" programs.

When and where do I apply for a National Cadet Special Activity (NCSA)? Applications, also known as the CAPF 31 "APPLICATION FOR CAP ENCAMPMENT OR SPECIAL ACTIVITY" or CAPF 60-81, for NCSAs are submitted via e-Services Registration and Payment System, typically from 1 December until the start of the activity.
