Chato Volcano, sometimes called "Cerro Chato" (Spanish for "Flat Hill"), is an inactive volcano in northwestern Costa Rica northwest of San José, in the province of Alajuela, canton of San Carlos, and district of La Fortuna. It is southeast of the nearby Arenal Volcano.

You can't see what's around the Cerro Chato as you climb up nor when you get to the top as the view is blocked by the rain forest. However, you'll get a wonderful view of the green lagoon that is inside of the crater on the top.

2023年11月29日 · Cerro Chato is a great hike. It's challenging especially if it's raining or very wet. It's closed for guided hikes because people always took longer than expected and would get stuck in the dark. The lagoon at the top is refreshing to swim in before heading back down. Me and my hiking partner at the time were both very fit and we took over 5hrs.
