Jul 28, 2018 · Apparently (and anyone can correct me if I’m wrong) the V-44 designation was used by Case for their non-folding, round-tip bolo (see the first picture) for the bailout or emergency kits in 1944.

Jun 1, 2022 · Case made the only V44 - a blunt nosed short machete. When Cole published his books, he labeled the incorrectly as V44s. Unfortunately the designation is damn near impossible to eliminate. In a recent book put out by a well known knife book author acknowledge the incorrect nomenclature but state he used it anyway.

This particular V-44 Survival Knife is marked CASE XX, indicating manufacture by W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co., who has manufactured knives for the U.S. military since WWI.

Case produced two variants of the V-44, as did Kinfolks and Western. Case’s initial production knife was a copy of the third Collins production variant with Bakelite grips, the “barbell” shaped brass guard and brass rivets to secure the grips.

Oct 7, 2024 · <p>Original WW2 Case V44 Bailout Survival Knife was used when bailing out of aircraft for survival which there are others that were used like the folding machete and a fixed blade with a small metal blade guard. Comes with the proper sheath which the knife doesn’t snap in but it is held in fairly well. Please see all photos.

Feb 17, 2017 · The V-44 survival knife was issued to US Army Air Force personnel in case that they were shot down and needed to survive in the jungles of the South Pacific. The knife was first ordered in 1934. It was considered to be a machete. The knife featured here was manufactured by the Kinfolks company. The design of the knife was very imposing.
