Television finally came to Canada on September 6 when the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation launched CBFT-TV in Montreal. That station broadcast in English and French. The CBC would open Toronto’s first station two days later – CBLT-TV. It was the country’s first English-language television station and the country’s second TV station.
