The University of Arizona’s Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (UA-CEAC) and technology/industry collaborators have come together to launch a new multi-tier vertical farm (VF) based research, education, and outreach facility (UAgFarm) at the UA-CEAC.

Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEAC) is the production of plants and their products, such as vegetables and flowers, inside structures such as greenhouses. By using CEA, we can produce high value crops at maximum productivity in an efficient and environmentally friendly way.

Development of greenhouse systems, sensors, and automation, to optimize resource use efficiency in plant production systems. CEA track prepares students with graduate-level education that integrates science and engineering-based approach to CEA. More specifically incorporate knowledge in management and business.

The Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) facilities are located at the Campus Agricultural Center, just three miles north of the University of Arizona campus. The CEAC includes advanced technology greenhouses and growth chambers, as well as office, laboratory, and teaching facilities.

CEAC features teaching and research greenhouses, the Mars-Lunar Greenhouse, the UAqua Farm, the UAg (Vertical) Farm, the University of Arizona Mushroom Lab, and more. Biosystems Engineering faculty and students often conduct research and outreach through the Arizona Experiment Station.
