The Chena River (/ ˈtʃiːnə /; Tanana Athabascan: Ch'eno' "river of something (game)") is a 100-mile (160 km) tributary of the Tanana River in the Interior region of the U.S. state of Alaska. It flows generally west from the White Mountains to the Tanana River near the city of Fairbanks, which is built on both sides of the river. [6] .

The Chena River State Recreation Site is open for day-use only, which includes the pavilion and boat launch, open daily from 7am-11pm. Reserve the Picnic Shelter Facilities include picnic sites along the river, drinking water, Sani-Cans, boat launch, and river-side walking trails.

The Chena Riverwalk makes for a relaxing self-paced stroll along the Chena River and through the most scenic parks and plazas of historic downtown. It’s best when flowers are in full bloom (July-August).
