Gainclone or chipamp is a type of audio amplifier made by do-it-yourselfers, or individuals interested in DIY audio. It is a design based on high-power integrated circuits, particularly the National Semiconductor Overture series. The Gainclone is probably the most commonly built and well-known amplifier project amongst hobbyists.

2018年6月27日 · The National Semiconductor (now Texas Instruments) LM3886 chip amp is a pretty nice little chip. With headline specs touting nearly 70 W of output power at 0.03 % THD and the ability to source over 11 A, what’s not to like?

2014年1月24日 · All depends on the design. I've built a power amp (16watts) using 16 parallel chips of TPA6120 (headphone amp chips) and the bass is much more tight and punchier than my other 50W+ amps (both chip and transistor). Highs are super clean too.

2025年3月17日 · I have 4 Fosi ZA3 mono amps driving the woofers and tweeters of my 3-way horns. I’ve run the gamut of op-amps in them; in the ZA3, “chip” refers to the Texas Instruments TPA3255,, which is not replaceable, rather than the operational amps.

2018年10月19日 · I have an LM3886 chip based integrated from Arcam, the A19 and a class-d amp from NuPrime, the IDA-16. They are both great amps. I've found both amps to be balanced from treble to bass with good tone and dynamics. Good luck in your search. Cheers, Scott
