The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum - Chum churn
I wish someone would develop a new and improved Chum churn. The original CC is a PITA to clean. BTW, I've learned there are just some things to never ever put in a chum churn. One is a remora, the other are trigger fish.

Re: chum churn ? A flat of frozen fish will take you about 45 minutes to hand-grind through a #32. After about 10 flats of fish, I then purtchased a 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine with a 6:1 reduction and simply attached the engine drive to the grinder.

hi,my name is Travis,I have invented a chumming device that sounds perfect for you. What it does is that it chops up fish up to a foot into pieces inside a pvc contraption.without revealing to much since I am in the process of going through the market search for a patent. It works a little like the chum churn, but different, better, and cheaper.I came up with the idea while cleaning fish one day ...
Homemade Chum-Chrun alternatives.... - The Hull Truth
2003年7月24日 · Was given a new Chum Churn recently, and I also have a homemade one. I don't like the weight of the CC, and how it cuts the pogies so small, too small for my liking. Also, the first time I used it I just hung it off the side of the boat, checking to see that it was only resting on the rub rail. All cool.
The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum - Homemade Chum …
Have looked at the Chum-Churn at Boaters World and they seem to be a good idea, but a little pricey and a bit bulky for my needs. I really do not want to carry a grinder or pre-grind chum. The blocks of frozen chum seem expensive and I do not have easy access to any by-catch. So the chum-churn seems to fit.
The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum - Chunk or Churn??
Would sure like to know if you think the chum churn is as effective as hand cut chunks for raising and keeping yellow fin tuna around the boat over 300-600' structure or in open deep water. Sure looks a lot easier than throwing chunks every minute.

I generally put the rejects of the catch into the churn. Lots of different kinds of fish. But never again with a remora. That is like putting a skunk in a food processor but worse. The head on the remora is impervious to anything. Once that got stuck we had to take it apart on the boat. If I ever had it to do over again, I'd just throw the CC ...

Every time you need some chum, drag it out, feed fish scraps and old bait into it, and haul away buckets of chum to be used right away or to freeze for later. baypro21 04-23-2004 05:03 AM
