Cimzia works to reduce inflammation and improve symptoms by blocking a protein called TNFα (tumor necrosis factor alpha).

Some people who received CIMZIA have developed serious infections, including tuberculosis (TB) and infections caused by viruses, fungi, or bacteria that have spread throughout the body.

Certolizumab pegol, sold under the brand name Cimzia, is a biopharmaceutical medication for the treatment of Crohn's disease, [4][5] rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
