Civitan International is an organization of community service clubs dedicated to helping others. There are Civitan clubs in more than 35 countries around the world, all working to make a difference. Chances are there’s a club near you!

Civitan is the only service organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This long-standing focus began as a local project in Baltimore in the 1940s when Civitan began funding specialized teachers in schools.

Civitan develops future leaders by encouraging people of all ages to take an active role in society. Civitan builds character and trains the next generation’s leaders through the Junior and Campus programs.

The worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.

When you join Civitan International, you link yourself with thousands of people around the world who share a heart for service to others. Civitans strive to promote the principles of fellowship, knowledge, and service to humanity through their local Civitan club.
