It broadcast with an effective radiated power of 5,600 watts video and 2,800 watts audio, and was a CBC English network affiliate. The station was owned by Television de Quebec (Canada) Ltee. which also owned CFCM-TV. CFCM had been broadcasting in English and French. With the launch of CKMI-TV, CFCM-TV was now able to broadcast solely in French.
