Nov 6, 2012 · I'm in the market for some clamping squares to help with 90 degree angle clamping. I'm not looking for corner clamps, I have the Kreg ones. I'm looking for clamps that I can use as a square when I have T shaped joinery. I think the best ones out there are the woodpeckers clamping squares, but those things are like $40 each.

May 22, 2011 · I became a believer in this system as soon as I unclamped the first set of 3 boards I joined. I put a straight edge across 18 inches of stock and all I could do is laugh with amazement because the boards were dead on square. One little secret I did do was put clear tap across the boards to keep glue from sticking to the clamping boards.

Jun 3, 2012 · You might try putting a piece of scrap wood cut to fit inside the box to hold it square while you clamp it. Then there is nothing wrong with clamping the box together with tape if you have clean well-cut joints. Somewhere in South Carolina there is a airport terminal with probably 100 columns dressed out with cherry plywood clamped in this manor.

Aug 29, 2018 · I really must not have the right clamps for this. I’m making a fancy cutting board using a combination of triangular and 45 degree angle pieces of wood. But once I put the tire bond on and start to clamp it, everything shifts and I end up with an uneven mess. I tried using bar clamps and clamping down a flat piece of wood on top.

May 7, 2022 · A little trick that has worked for me is to take a small fine brad and tap it into the miter. You can use more than one for larger miters. Leave the brad proud. Then clip the head off leaving inly 1/16-1/8" remaining. This will press easily into the opposing miter and stop it from slipping under normal clamping pressure.

Oct 28, 2021 · The longer the clamping "head", the more parallel it must be to it's mate or it will take more pressure to make it square. I would not like using clamps that didn't start out square to the bar/pipe or parallel to one another. My pipe clamps have a short "head", so any variation is not magnified.
