The British Rail Class 701 Arterio is a class of electric multiple unit passenger train built by Bombardier Transportation (now Alstom) at Derby Litchurch Lane Works. Built on the Aventra platform, they are operated by South Western Railway, and operate some services between Waterloo and Windsor.

2024年12月5日 · South Western Railway (SWR) has launched its new Aventra fleet, consisting of 90 Class 701 Arterio trains built by Alstom in Derby. The 1 billion GBP fleet will replace SWR’s older Class 455 models. Each ten-car Arterio train increases capacity by over 50% compared to the eight-car predecessors, addressing the growing demand on commuter routes.

2021年2月7日 · Class 701s (the class number being confirmed in September 2017) were originally due to enter service in December 2019. The entire Classes 7nn Adventra range encountered delays due to difficulty developing, having tested and approved their software.

2017年5月26日 · Much needed extra seats for suburban rail services into London Waterloo moved a step closer today as new South Western franchise operators FirstGroup and MTR signed an order for 90 new trains (750 new carriages, in five and 10 car formations).

2024年1月17日 · The Class 701 trains which are modelled on the Aventra platform were originally ordered in 2017 and were due to enter service in 2020 have been beset by delays. It was revealed last year that the trains had suffered from various software issues, including problems with door obstacle detectors, coupling process issues and other defects.

2024年1月15日 · The Aventra Class 701 (described by SWR as Arterio) has finally made it to public service! The first ever in service outing for the long delayed class took place on 9th January 2023 with a one a day Waterloo to Windsor duty.
