Clippy is a paperclip with a face. He offers to close the program known as Jesus when he stops working. Jesus may not actually be a program, however. Clippy may be some sort of Elder God, but this is just speculation.

Although the name Clippit was used in all versions of Microsoft Office that supported the Office Assistant feature, the assistant became commonly referred to by the public as Clippy, a name which later occasionally bled into Microsoft marketing materials.
