2025年3月9日 · Amazingly, a C&NW 4-4-0 survivor exists and is located (in need of restoration) at the Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, MO (St Louis, MO). What a magnificent piece this engine would be fully restored! Instead, for now, it's an engine most would not even have noticed after a visit to the Museum. Time and money, I know.

The throttle lever was missing when I took the photo of the backhead above, but the rigging is at the centre of the boiler. There was no automatic safety valve. Instead, the engineer checked the pressure gauge and released steam through a manual safety valve.
