One of the coolest things I've ever seen in Bristol, 8646 was leading NS 111. A VERY rare unpatched CNW Dash-9 rounds the curve through Lindale, GA. This is train QNLCH2 20 (Manifest from North Little Rock, AR to Clearing, IL [Chicago]). It arrived at 00:25 (12:25 A.M.).

UP is currently power short. The Dash-9 fleet is going back in service, along with the SD60/SD60M fleets. Some are getting paint jobs as well. This includes CNW 8646 & 8701. Both will be repainted UP yellow and put back in service.

CNW 8646 and 8701 were the last remaining unpatched CNW locomotives on the roster and were kept at Illinois Railway Museum until 2017 took them to be repainted and put back in service. Records indicate that they were renumbered to UP 9750 and 9805.
