The Sentinel-class cutter, also known as the Fast Response Cutter or FRC due to its program name, is part of the United States Coast Guard's Deepwater program. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] At 154 feet (46.8 m), it is similar to, but larger than, the 123-foot (37 m) lengthened 1980s-era Island-class patrol boats that it replaces.

2024年4月7日 · As of 2024 the Coast Guard has three FRCs based in Guam, all of which were commissioned simultaneously back in 2021: USCGC Myrtle Hazard (WPC-1139), USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC-1140) and USCGC Frederick Hatch (WPC-1143). While it’s more vessels than Guam had previously, the number of missions for them has only grown.

The Sentinel Class patrol boat project (FRC) being constructed by Bollinger (awarded in September of 2008) will help the Coast Guard meet its needs for additional patrol boats. The existing shortage of cutters diminishes the Coast Guard’s ability to best accomplish its missions.
