2013年3月7日 · I gather you are very new to coin collecting and wish to hunt varieties and errors. If you are pursuing such a question with slabbed or attributed coins, then a list would be my first step. If you intend to hunt through bags of cents, or prowl ebay and other auction sites, I think you be be better suited to read as much as possible on the subject.

2013年6月15日 · Dropped letters are errors, not varieties. The difference is varieties are consistent. You can find the same exact variety on multiple coins. Varieties are differences in the dies, such as a doubled die, repunched mintmark. Or transitional die variety. Errors occur either within the planchet itself or during the actual striking of the coin.

2021年2月25日 · As others have mentioned, most errors we see on the series are minor, such as cuds, MAD, partial collar, die breaks, and sintered planchet, etc. Major errors such as large-percentage off-center, double struck or die cap are either super rare or non-existence.

2020年12月8日 · I found a slightly off center struck 1999-P Connecticut State Quarter (no big deal) the other day but noticed that there was something else odd about it. After further inspection, I found various doubling and letter errors on the coin. The words "States" & "America" as well as the "P" mint mark show definite doubling.

2020年8月17日 · I think the Mint has done a good job on National Park quarters. Major errors are extremely rare for the series. Most are die breaks and MAD (misaligned die strikes). Better chance to look for high MS-grade pieces.
