2019年10月14日 · I had a colostomy closure in May. A few hours after the surgery I was passing a lot of gas. I had a small bm on day 2. Due to a history of constipation I started daily Miralax around day 3 post closure. My bowels started producing normal bms slowly. I was back to normal elimination (using Miralax) within about a week. Best wishes!

2023年6月17日 · Some folks feel more confident adding a clip closure to it as well. I like to roll the velcro up after it's connected and tuck it inside the cloth covering just to keep the edges from poking into my leg as my stoma sits low and I'm short.

2014年4月12日 · When I tried using a Velcro bag, I always seemed to need two hands to open the Velcro---leaving the bag and its contents to sway wherever it desired. I also thought the Velcro closure was much more difficult to clean. Mine didn't leak---but I could not understand why it wouldn't----the Velcro mating pieces are POROUS.

2013年3月24日 · I currently use a Convatec convex Natura Sur-Fit system that has a double velcro closure. I empty my ileostomy standing in front of the toilet, and wipe the end right away with a piece or two of toilet paper before I open it up and wipe out the inside with a roll of 4 or 5 sheets of toilet paper.

2015年2月18日 · I had my colostomy reversal in Sep 2014. The procedure went well, with mild pain only. However, since then I have experienced seriously embarrassing gas all the time. I also get terrible diarrhea almost as soon as I finish eating. In addition, I get terrible stabbing pain around my scars - once sending me to ER. They found nothing wrong with me.

2022年4月28日 · I had back surgery about 5 weeks ago and quit taking Metamucil in preparation for that. I haven't taken any Metamucil since before my back surgery. Sometimes it hurts when I'm going to pass stool. Sometimes I'm not even aware that any stool has passed. I'm 86 years old and I've had the colostomy for 3 years now.

2018年2月3日 · She has arthritis so would like to stay with a bag that has a plug for closure rather than a clip. After searching online for supplies I'm starting to feel she's one of a very few with this surgery and not much is designed for her needs. Any info at all regarding supplies designed for the wet barrel colostomy are much appreciated. Many thanks.
