2022年5月2日 · The Colt M16A2 was the service rifle of the U.S. Armed Forces and some 55 other countries. It is the latest version of a weapon that has been the U.S. standard since 1967, and it has a well-earned combat reputation.

In 1983, the US Marine Corps adopted the M16A2 rifle, and the US Army adopted it in 1986. The M16A2 fires the improved 5.56×45mm (M855/SS109) cartridge and has a newer adjustable rear sight, case deflector, heavy barrel, improved handguard, pistol grip, and buttstock, as well as a semi-auto and three-round burst fire selector. Colt 703 “M16A2”. 20” barrel, fixed buttstock, forward assist, 4 position 3 shot burst. Buttstock is slotted for a sling. The Model 703’s had a closed type gas system, driving a piston to the bolt carrier. This system was an attempt to replace the original Stoner design, but it was not adopted.

2020年7月21日 · Colt increased the diameter of the AR-15 barrel beyond ArmaLite's original specs during production of the Model 601. Diameter was increased from app. .565" to app. .575" in front of the front sight base.
