University Professor Emeritus Tsung-Dao “T.D.” Lee, who in 1957 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, died on Aug. 4, 2024, in San Francisco. He was 97. Lee was barely 31 when he won the Nobel, the second-youngest scientist to receive the honor; his collaborator Chen Ning Yang was a co-recipient.
Tsung Dao Lee (published under T.D. Lee) is a Chinese‐born American physicist well known for his work on parity violation, the Lee Model, the Kinoshita‐Lee‐Nauenberg (KLN) theorem, particle physics, relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC) physics, and the field of non‐topological solitons.

2024年8月5日 · On Sunday morning 4 August Tsung Dao Lee passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was 97 years old. Lee was a physicist, educator, and scientific leader. He taught at Columbia University for sixty years beginning as an assistant professor in 1953 until his retirement in 2012 as University Professor and Enrico Fermi Professor of Physics.
