To qualify for a Certificate of Recognition (COR), your Occupational Health & Safety Management System must first undergo an external audit. This audit will be reviewed by the ACSA (your Certifying Partner) and will need to meet quality assurance standards before it can be approved.

ACSA COR auditors need to maintain their knowledge of ACSA’s auditing processes and stay current on any changes to those processes. ACSA Auditors are required to take this one-day course every three years to maintain their auditor status.

To get a COR, your business must first have a health and safety management system in place, and then have it successfully audited through a Certifying Partner. If your business passes the audit, the Certifying Partner will jointly issue a COR with the Government of Alberta.
