Although closed reduction and percutaneous fixation (CRPF) minimizes blood loss and surgical time, it uses indirect fluoroscopic reduction techniques that may have an inherently higher risk of malreduction compared with direct open approaches.

Sacroiliac CRPF of longitudinal fractures of the posterior pelvic ring is technically simple, minimally invasive, well localized, and stable. It should be done by an interventional/surgical team. CT is an excellent guiding modality. Closed reduction may be a problem and succeeds best when performed as early as possible.

2020年3月5日 · Surgical stabilization of posterior pelvic ring fractures can be achieved by closed reduction and percutaneous fixation (CRPF) or by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). The aim of the present study is to compare the clinical results of both methods.

Patients/participants: We reviewed the records of 113 patients who had unilateral unstable pelvic ring injuries (Bucholz type 3, OTA type 61-C1) treated with closed reduction and percutaneous fixation (CRPF) or open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF).

Clinical subtalar arthritis developed in 10 (30%) CRPF and 7 (24%) ORIF patients, requiring arthrodesis in 2 (6%) and 5 (17%) patients, respectively. Both techniques had acceptable restoration of Bohler’s angle immediately postoperatively and at final follow-up.
