2016年5月16日 · Aircraft crashed near the Pan American Airways Landing at Pearl City. The Japanese used a total of 54 D3As in the 1st wave, and 81 D3A's in the 2dn wave. One of the crew committed suicide by drowning himself, the other rather than face capture went for his pistol and was shot by naval personnel.

On May 8, 1942 during the Battle of the Coral Sea took off on a dive bombing mission against U.S. Navy (USN) aircraft carriers. Returning, this Val force landed on eastern Sudest Island (Tagula). Both crew survived the landing unhurt and were able to radio their location.

2022年8月25日 · "Two crashes of dive bomber Type 99 (and later given the code name "VAL") were near "Wheeler" airbase. Both crashed just outside the base in or near the community of Wahiawa, Oahu. Mr. David Aiken's research reveals that both aircraft were from the Japanese carrier KAGA. Both VALs had targeted the USS NEVADA during her sortie within the harbor.
