2022年8月1日 · Concordia has a new compassion care canine-in-training! Grace, a labradoodle born May 21, recently began her extensive training with Dawgs in Motion to prepare to succeed Zoey as Concordia’s newest comfort dog. Grace is expected to join the CUW campus sometime in 2023, once her training is fully completed.

2023年3月9日 · Concordia University Wisconsin recently began a new certification program called Compassion Care Certificate. In this program, students are able to earn two certificates; one through Concordia University and one through a local dog training facility, Dawgs in Motion.

Comfort Dog Club is designed to create a positive environment on campus centered on sharing Christ's love through Concordia’s two comfort dogs. The club creates programs that bring awareness to animal assisted intervention. The club provides students with opportunities to “de-stress” and have fun.

2024年2月27日 · Zoey, Concordia’s very first comfort dog, joined the campus staff in 2014 and recently entered semi-retirement. Sage joined Concordia in 2018 and is assigned to CUW’s Animal Assisted Therapy Certificate program .

CUW now has two comfort dogs: ZOEY, who is administered by Dave Enters in our Counseling Center, and SAGE, who is administered by Dr. Lois Harrison in our School of Health Professions. This is a one-of-a-kind ministry within higher education in America.

The Concordia University Wisconsin Counseling Center staff is here to provide caring, competent counseling to students, faculty, and staff in a confidential setting whenever you need us. We even have a comfort dog, Zoey, on staff if you need non-human companionship.

This 12 credit certificate provides training in the art and skills of compassionate care for educators, athletic trainers, and other vocations. The program highlights include work with our Comfort Dogs, trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning strategies, lessons of compassion from Jesus, our master teacher, and a practicum.

2020年10月5日 · Concordia is raising money for a new, certified Comfort Dog that will serve students on campus and as a resource for CUW's new trauma-informed care certificate program. CUW’s inaugural LCC K-9 Comfort Dog, Zoey, who joined the CUW community in 2014, will unofficially hang up her comfort vest in summer 2021 and significantly cut back her hours ...

These simulated sessions will include registered/certified therapy dog teams from the Milwaukee area, coordinated by the course instructor. This will provide participants with the opportunity to also learn how to effectively provide direction to the handler of a therapy dog, contributing to their competency in AAT practice.
