The museum’s Japanese Aichi D3A “Val” dive bomber is one of nine used in the 1970 film, Tora! Tora! A TBM-3E Avenger torpedo bomber, built in 1945, saw only 1,227 hours of service, flying antisubmarine patrols from Norfolk, Virginia, Miami, and the Pacific island of Palau.

The ships were designed with two superimposed hangars; the upper hangar was about 200 meters (656 ft 2 in) long and had a width that varied between 18.5 and 24 meters (60 ft 8 in and 78 ft 9 in). It had a height of 4.85 meters (15 ft 11 in) while the lower hangar was 4.7 meters (15 ft 5 in) high and only usable by fighters.

Akagi (Japanese: 赤城, "Red castle", named after Mount Akagi) was an aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Though she was laid down as an Amagi -class battlecruiser, Akagi was converted to an aircraft carrier while still under construction to comply with the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.

2022年11月8日 · Hawaii’s Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum took delivery of a rare Aichi D3A recently. The new addition arrived at its new home on September 26. It’s believed to have been recovered from the Solomon Islands in 2019.

The Aichi D3A (Navy designation "Type 99 Carrier Bomber"; Allied reporting name "Val") [a] is a World War II carrier-borne dive bomber. It was the primary dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) and was involved in almost all IJN actions, including the attack on Pearl Harbor .

2024年2月12日 · I tried to push a damaged D3A unit overboard to make room for returning planes that lost their carrier (a very useful game feature I thought would work...), to make hangar capacity room, but I got an empty blank box that opened up and nothing happened. Is this feature not enabled yet? Can't reproduce it working fine.?
