The Roland D-50 is a synthesizer produced by Roland and released in April of 1987. Its features include digital sample-based subtractive synthesis, on-board effects, a joystick for data manipulation, and an analog synthesis-styled layout design.

The D-50 was Roland’s first fully digital synthesizer, and its unique sound combined subtractive synthesis with harmonically complex sampled waveforms and digital effects.

The sonic characteristics of this wonderful-sounding synthesizer are very particular: digital, with short loops that remind of early samplers, and analog-warm at the same time. A marriage made in synth-heaven.
