2021年5月4日 · Yes cars have DACs in them. Thats how CDs and Digital Radio get converted to analog sound. Wifi isn't analog audio. Its still a digital transmission that requires a DAC to get analog audio converted. Wifi is a Digital Transport. Streaming over Wifi requires a DAC that is built into the stereo already.

Given that DAC technology seems to be constantly changing, I feel overwhelmed when selecting a USB DAC to input into my signal processor / amps.-Audio files will be 24 bit, 192khz.-Drivers will need to be compatible with Linux (Andriod tablet.)

2023年3月30日 · Upgrade your receiver to something that supports android auto or apple car play, wired. Get a receiver with a decent EQ and tune the system with a mic and a RTA. That made a big difference for my system. Also everything digital that plays music has a DAC, your phone, car stereo. Optimize the existing system before you add a new DAC.

2014年8月20日 · Thanks. I'm not interested in changing the stereo - it's a semi-classic car and it has a high-end Denon head unit in it that matches the period. Also, part of the point of separating out the DAC is that it can be changed out individually. I don't trust the mass market stuff made today to handle the DAC portion of their units with care.

2023年10月14日 · Yes, there are, but they do not come close to the price of a FiiO headphone amp. The lower end dedicated DAC/preamps cost about 400-600 USD. I have a dedicated E12 Mont Blanc in my car, with a iFi Go Link over USB-C DAC. I have tried even a 800 USD car navigation with a dedicated preamp, and it sounds flat and metallic.

2022年2月7日 · The new unit would have the appropriate DAC built in. If your current car has an AUX input, then you can buy a hi-res capable external DAC, connect it to your car using the AUX input, and get hi-res audio that way.

If you plug your phone in with USB, you're using the head units DAC that's way better than your phone. You're also not double amping (because a normal portable dac like a dragonfly will have an amp as well), and of course you're charging your phone

It provides an option to Disable Media Sink through Android auto/ Head unit. It can then be transmitted through Mobile USB to external DAC. But external DAC needs to be connected to amp or DSP.
